The Kitchen That Became a Legend
Savoy Kitchen opened its doors in 1982 on East Valley Boulevard in Alhambra, California — and has never looked back. What started as a small neighborhood eatery grew into one of the most beloved dining destinations in the San Gabriel Valley, earning the title of #1 Most Popular Asian Restaurant in East LA on Yelp.
The restaurant is best known for one dish that defines it completely: Hainan Chicken Rice. So iconic that it's been painted along the side of the parking garage — "Famous Hainan Chicken since 1982." Slow-poached chicken, fragrant rice steamed in chicken broth, and three house sauces that have kept Alhambra coming back for over four decades.
But Savoy is also delightfully hard to categorize. The menu spans handmade potato-dough pizzas, European-style pasta, fragrant curries, baked escargot, filet mignon, and fresh seafood — a fusion of Chinese, Singaporean, and Western traditions that reflects Alhambra's diverse and adventurous food culture.
The space is cozy — a roadside diner feel with a bar at the kitchen for solo diners, sidewalk tables for people-watching, and a no-reservations policy (walk-in with a waitlist). No frills. Just extraordinary food.
